Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department's Elite VA-TF1 USAR Team Activated for Hurricane Dorian


  Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department's elite urban search and rescue team, Virginia Task Force 1 (VA-TF1) was activated the Federal Emergency Management Agency at 4:00pm today. The team will be deploying a Type 1 team which is comprised of 80 members to Southern Florida to be in position ahead of Hurricane Dorian.  Check back here for updates on the Team's mission.

Assistant Chief John Caussin named Interim Chief of FCFRD

Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department Assistant Chief of Business Services, John Caussin, has been appointed interim Chief as of April 30, 2018 when Fire Chief Richard Bowers retires. 

Chief Caussin has been a member of Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department since 1985. He has worked his way up through the ranks. 

Chief Caussin is a certified paramedic and a sworn assistant fire marshal. He is a member of numerous professional organizations including the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the International Association of Fire Fighters, the Virginia Fire Chiefs Association and the National Fire Protection Association, where he serves on the Technical Committee on Fire and Emergency Service Organization and Deployment. Caussin holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from James Madison University, an associate degree in fire administration from Northern Virginia Community College and is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program.

1 Firefighter Injured, 5 Displaced by Centreville House Fire



Just after midnight on Match 30, firefighters from Fairfax County and Loudoun County were dispatched to a house fire in the 6500 Block of Trillium House Lane in Centreville, VA. Nobody was at home at the time of the fire, but 5 residents were displaced and 1 firefighter was injured. The injured firefighter was transported to a local burn center, the injuries are believed to be non-life threatening...
