The Cessna 177B ran out of fuel and crashed, said Captain Willie Bailey with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue in Virginia.

One of those hurt was in the apartment and the other one in the aircraft.

The plane was headed from the Philadelphia area to Manassas Regional Airport.

David Ventura, who lives in the apartment, has told local WRC-TV that he was awakened by the sound of the crash and shocked to discover a plane in his living room.

The Red Cross is helping nine adults and seven children who had to leave the building.
