International Code Council Publishes the Public Comment Agenda

September 6, 2013 15:44

The International Association of Fire Fighters is currently participating in the establishment of the 2015 Editions of the International Residential Code and the International Fire Code.

It is important for the IAFF to remain an active participant on how the codes are created and maintained because the International Fire Code establishes the building fire protection systems in many of the jurisdictions our members protect and operate. The IFC establishes how many of the buildings in our members’ work environment are maintained.

Most working fires that IAFF members encounter occur in residential occupancies and the majority of fire fighters lose their lives fighting residential occupancies.

The IAFF encourages our members to actively participate in the process established both in the ICC and NFPA.

Read the Public Comments to the original code change proposals and learn more on how these proposed changes may impact you and your colleagues’ safety.

Again, we encourage you to get involved. Even if you will not be able to attend the code hearings in person feel free to submit comments through the IAFF concerning specific changes. Have your voice heard and follow the process online.

August 29, 2013 | Public Comment Agenda Available.
